President Boakai visits late First Lady Nancy Doe’s home for condolence

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. visited the home of the late First Lady Madam Nancy Ghanyea Bohn Doe, widow of former Liberian President Samuel Kanyon Doe, to offer condolences. The visit was marked by reflection and national reconciliation as President Boakai conveyed sympathies on behalf of Liberia’s government and people.

Madam Nancy Doe served as First Lady from 1980 to 1990 and is remembered for her contributions during a challenging period in Liberia’s history. President Boakai praised her as “a motherly figure whose dignity in the face of adversity inspired many Liberians.” He stressed the importance of honoring all who have contributed to Liberia’s journey.

“History must remember all of its children,” President Boakai stated, emphasizing that they were there not only to mourn but also to honor Madam Doe’s life and legacy.

The President was joined by senior government officials, including Cabinet members and Executive Mansion staff. Madam Nancy Doe passed away on May 21, 2025, after a prolonged illness. Her funeral arrangements are being coordinated by her family with support from the Government of Liberia.

The Government remains committed to working with the family to ensure a dignified tribute to her life and legacy.
