President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. visited the BAO CHICO Pier Facility under construction in Royesville Township, Montserrado County on December 31, 2025. The visit was part of his ongoing efforts to monitor major infrastructure projects that aim to improve Liberia’s maritime and logistics sectors, facilitate trade, and create jobs.
Project managers and government officials briefed President Boakai on the project’s scope, current progress, and expected economic benefits. The BAO CHICO Pier Facility is anticipated to enhance port services and support private sector growth by providing modern maritime infrastructure for Montserrado County and nearby areas.
President Boakai emphasized the need for quality execution, transparency, and adherence to timelines during the tour. He stated that infrastructure investments should lead to real improvements for Liberians: “Infrastructure investments must translate into tangible benefits for the Liberian people.”
Senior government officials and private sector representatives accompanied the President during his visit.
