President Bio welcomes Ferensola leaders pledging support for his government

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio recently met with the leadership of the Ferensola Organisation at State House, Freetown. The delegation visited to express their commitment and loyalty to the President and his administration.

Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, introduced the group, which included Paramount Chiefs from three districts. He described the Ferensola Organisation as a Kuranko friendship group established in the 1980s to promote unity among their tribesmen. Despite being non-political historically, it has played a significant role in uniting Kurankos across Sierra Leone.

Hon. Paramount Chief Alie Balasama Marah III of Sengbe Chiefdom expressed gratitude for the audience with President Bio. He explained that the organisation aims to preserve Kuranko cultural heritage, support community members, and contribute to national development. The Paramount Chief formally entrusted the revival of the Ferensola Organisation to President Bio.

Dr. Shekou Sesay, leader of the Ferensola Organisation, spoke about its origins linked to Kuranko migration from the Mali Empire. He highlighted its recent inactivity and emphasized its revival under President Bio’s leadership. Dr. Sesay confirmed their dedication to supporting President Bio’s administration and its development agenda.

President Julius Maada Bio appreciated the mission of the Ferensola Organisation in preserving cultural identity and promoting unity among Kurankos. He praised their loyalty and contributions to national development.

Reflecting on his journey, President Bio acknowledged support from Kuranko people throughout his career and recognized former military mentors who were Kurankos for shaping him as a leader.

“I deeply value the Kuranko people because of their unique attributes,” said President Bio, urging them to ensure quality education for future generations to contribute meaningfully to district and national advancement.
