President Bio opens multipurpose center promoting entrepreneurship in Freetown

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio officially inaugurated the Chapter One Multipurpose Center in Lumley, Freetown, marking a significant development in Sierra Leone’s tourism and hospitality industry. The facility, owned by local entrepreneur Fassally Tarawally, includes a bar, restaurant, and entertainment space.

The opening ceremony attracted government officials, tourism stakeholders, and the public. Permanent Secretary Edward Kwame Yankson of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs praised President Bio for his vision for the tourism sector. “This facility brings together hospitality, culture, and entertainment. It is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to creating job opportunities for young people,” he stated.

Mr. Yankson also highlighted how such facilities could enhance Sierra Leone’s tourism profile. He said, “This is where Sierra Leonean culture will shine. Tourism is everybody’s business.”

President Bio expressed satisfaction with the center’s completion and its potential impact on local entrepreneurship. “I’m delighted to unveil this vibrant facility,” he remarked.

He acknowledged Mr. Tarawally’s efforts as an example of what Sierra Leoneans can achieve locally. “Yes, this is owned by a Sierra Leonean and built in Sierra Leone,” he declared.

The President also discussed his administration’s achievements in making Sierra Leone more appealing as a tourist destination by mentioning projects like the new international airport and direct flights to the United Kingdom.

CEO Fassally Tarawally thanked President Bio for fostering an environment conducive to investment. “Today is not just an unveiling of a magnificent structure; it is the birth of a dream,” he noted.

The event concluded with President Bio unveiling the center as an emblem of local talent and ambition.
