His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio recently inaugurated several development initiatives at Bo Government Secondary School, where he was once a student. The projects, commissioned on April 19, 2025, in Bo City, were aimed at enhancing educational facilities and fostering growth at the institution.

Ing. Hadji Dabo, President of the Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA), welcomed guests to the event, highlighting the association’s role in the school’s transformation. He acknowledged President Bio’s leadership in prioritizing educational advancements both locally and nationally.

The development projects include the construction of the Beijing Building, a fish pond and farm, a staff quarter, a school canteen and mini-mart, and four greenhouse vegetable projects. President Bio remarked on the importance of these initiatives, stating, “The Beijing Dormitory Block is not just a structure, it is a statement of belief in the power of education and legacy.”

President Bio emphasized the link between the greenhouse projects and the government’s Feed Salone program, designed to enhance food security and support self-reliance within educational institutions.

During the ceremony, President Bio formally opened the completed projects, including the Beijing Building, which now serves as a modern boarding facility for students. He also initiated the construction of a Digital Innovation and Research Hub, intended to provide a tech-focused learning environment for students.

The event was marked by a sense of pride among attendees, who included alumni and current students, reinforcing the commitment to the ongoing legacy of Bo School as a nurturing ground for future leaders in Sierra Leone.
