The Office of the President announced that President Adama Barrow of The Gambia will attend an important event in Guinea Bissau. Scheduled for April 25, 2025, the President will be present at the inauguration of the OMVG electricity project in Antula. President Barrow is set to depart Banjul International Airport on Thursday at 9:30 AM.

The Antula substation is part of a broader initiative to enhance electricity supply among four countries: The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau. This regional project already saw The Gambia inaugurate the Soma substation in 2020, aimed at increasing electricity access within the country. The new substation in Bissau is expected to further improve the electricity infrastructure and support industrial and economic development across the sub-region.

The inauguration is seen as a step toward building more reliable electricity access in these West African nations. The increased access is considered crucial for supporting ongoing industrial and economic growth in the area.
