State House, Banjul, 30th April 2025: The Gambian President, Adama Barrow, was visited by members of the Gambia Mandinka Society (GMS) as a gesture of support for his leadership. During the visit, the GMS commended President Barrow for maintaining peace, democracy, and infrastructural development across the nation.

President Barrow welcomed the delegation and reiterated his government’s dedication to fostering peace and cooperation. He announced a new initiative to support farmers by offering agricultural tractors. Under this plan, farmers would pay 25% upfront, complete 50% through instalments over four years, and the government would cover the remaining 25%.

Alagie Sambujang Conteh, Vice President of GMS, expressed appreciation to President Barrow for improvements in rural infrastructure. He pledged the GMS’s support for the President’s vision and objectives.

Imam Yankuba Sillah provided background information on the GMS, tracing its roots to 1970 when it was founded as ‘Kanbeng Kafo’ to support its members. The society now aligns with the government’s developmental goals and highlighted concerns about cyberbullying and its potential to disturb national peace.

In response, President Barrow advised Gambians about forthcoming laws on cyber insults and emphasized that maintaining peace is a collective responsibility.
