Nominations are now open for the 2026 New Year Honours and St Helena National Awards. These awards recognize exceptional achievements and services that go beyond normal expectations, focusing on voluntary contributions where possible.

The UK State Awards for the 2026 New Year Honours celebrate individuals who have made a significant difference in their communities or fields of work. The emphasis is on recent voluntary service, and nominees should not be informed about their nomination.

The Certificate and Badge of Honour 2026 is awarded to public servants in St Helena for loyal service or to others whose conduct has significantly benefited the people of St Helena. Eligible nominees must be residents of St Helena, either born there or having lived there for at least ten years before the award date.

The Act of Bravery Award 2026 honors individuals demonstrating moral courage and bravery in challenging situations.

The Badge of St Helena is a higher-status award than the Certificate and Badge of Honour. It acknowledges individuals or organizations contributing significantly to St Helena’s development or enhancing its social, cultural, economic, environmental standing, or international understanding.

Freedom of the City of Jamestown is a symbolic local government award recognizing those whose achievements have a substantial national impact on St Helena. Recipients will have made outstanding contributions serving the island’s best interests.

For more information about these honours, visit www.gov.uk/honours. Nomination forms can be obtained from Central Support Service at the Castle, Jamestown, or requested via email at [email protected]. Completed forms should be returned in a sealed envelope marked ‘Confidential’ addressed to ‘The Secretary, Honours and Awards Committee,’ by Thursday, April 17, 2025.
