A new seven-member Governing Board for the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has been inaugurated. The board is tasked with enhancing revenue generation and modernizing the authority’s operations.
The board, chaired by Mr. Fredrick Amissah, includes Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Director-General of the NLA; Mr. Edward Abrokwah from the Ministry of Finance; Ms. Doreen Panyin Annan from the Ministry of the Interior; Ms. Helen Akpene Awo Ziwu, Solicitor General; Mr. Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu, a presidential nominee; and Hon. Faustina Elipklim Akurugu, Member of Parliament.
Deputy Minister for Finance Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem conducted the inauguration on behalf of Minister for Finance Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Hon. Ampem encouraged the board to reposition the NLA as a dynamic institution contributing significantly to national revenue while funding essential development projects. He emphasized modernization, digital service enhancement, and tackling illegal lottery activities.
Mr. Fredrick Amissah expressed gratitude for their appointments: “We are honored to take on this responsibility,” he said, aiming for transparency and innovation in serving Ghana’s interests.
The board plans to increase revenue from traditional and digital platforms, combat illegal gaming operations, and upgrade systems to improve safety and accessibility for Ghanaians.
With this leadership direction, the NLA aims to meet its objectives and support Ghana’s economic growth.
