The Ministry of Finance, Ghana, through its official Twitter account, shared excerpts from the closing statement delivered by Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem during the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review debate on August 1, 2025. The statements were made on behalf of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the current Minister for Finance.

In a tweet posted at 11:02 UTC on August 1, 2025, the Ministry quoted Honourable Abena Osei Asare: ”The Honourable Abena Osei Asare stated, “if the cedi has appreciated against the US dollar,”.

Later that day at 14:00 UTC, another excerpt highlighted remarks by Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam regarding credit for changes in Ghana’s debt metrics: ”Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam, the immediate past Minister for Finance, suggested that Dr. Ato Forson cannot take credit for the reduction in the debt-to-GDP”.

A subsequent post at 16:05 UTC addressed concerns about data accuracy in parliamentary discussions: ”Mr. Speaker, Hon. Gideon Boako, an advisor to the former Vice President, provided some wrong debt figures in his submission to suggest that the negative”.
