The Ministry of Finance held its Annual Thanksgiving Service and Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to mark the end of the year. The event took place at the Ministry’s Inner Court, bringing together management, staff, retirees, and invited guests for a program that included music, scripture readings, sermons, and prayers.
Deputy Minister for Finance Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem delivered a message on behalf of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Finance. He commended staff for their contributions over the past year. “The evidence of our collective hard work is clear for all to see, and we are deeply grateful to every one of you for your dedicated service to the nation. We could not have recorded such a remarkable year without your support,” he stated.
Hon. Nyarko Ampem also discussed improvements in the economy attributed to the government’s reset agenda. “Our macroeconomic indicators have not merely improved; they shine as a testimony to resilience,” he added.
He noted that recent strategic reassignment of staff within the Ministry has improved workflow and collaboration among directorates.
Addressing thirteen retirees from the Ministry, Hon. Nyarko Ampem praised their years of service and encouraged current staff to follow their example.
The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyedu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, spoke at the event and urged Ministry staff to pursue excellence in their roles because their work affects millions across Ghana. He said public service in finance is “a sacred trust that must be approached with diligence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to national development.”
He drew lessons from biblical figures Mary, Joseph, Jesus Christ, and King Herod relevant to leadership and public service.
Music was provided by performances from the Clossag Band and Ministry of Finance Choir.
