President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., addressed the 124th National Black Business Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 23, 2024, to highlight Liberia’s investment potential. The President emphasized opportunities for businesses to leverage Liberia’s natural wealth, particularly in agriculture.

Boakai pointed out the country’s fertile land and favorable climate as key factors for agricultural investments, especially in rice production. He noted that a significant portion of Liberia’s rice consumption is imported and stressed the need for local production and downstream processing. Additionally, he mentioned cash crops such as rubber, cocoa, coffee, and oil palm as promising investment avenues.

The President also invited investors to explore various sectors in Liberia while reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. He outlined Liberia’s A.R.R.E.S.T Agenda focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, education, health, and tourism to spur economic growth.

Encouraging attendees to consider Liberia as an investment destination, Boakai highlighted the shared journey between Africa and its diaspora. He commended the conference for promoting black business enterprise and celebrating transatlantic ties.

Boakai paid homage to Booker T. Washington for his influence on Liberia and the African American experience. He referenced the Booker T. Washington Institute in Liberia as a testament to Washington’s vision for education and economic empowerment.

In closing, Boakai showcased Liberia’s commitment to partnering with black businesses for mutual economic advancement.
