President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has endorsed the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) as Liberia’s new National Development Plan. This move is intended to mark a significant phase in the country’s development efforts. During a session of the National Steering Committee, President Boakai addressed an audience that included government officials, development partners, private sector representatives, and civil society leaders.
President Boakai expressed his administration’s vision to address Liberia’s pressing issues through inclusive and transformative strategies. He emphasized the role of the AAID and County Development Agendas (CDAs) in combating multidimensional poverty and promoting equitable progress nationwide.
“This is a defining moment for Liberia,” stated President Boakai. “The ARREST Agenda represents a comprehensive strategy to address food insecurity, inadequate access to essential services, governance issues, and economic stagnation.”
He further remarked, “Together, we will transform our nation into one that offers hope, prosperity, and equality for all.”
The ARREST Agenda focuses on six key areas: agribusiness, roads and infrastructure, rule of law and governance, education and human capital development, sanitation, and tourism. The agenda aims to boost food security, enhance connectivity, strengthen institutional trust, empower citizens with skills and knowledge, ensure access to clean water, and leverage natural beauty for economic diversification.
Collaboration is crucial for achieving the AAID’s goals. President Boakai called on all stakeholders—government entities, private sector participants, development partners, civil society groups—and Liberians abroad to engage actively in implementing the agenda.
“Liberia’s development is a collective responsibility,” he said. “The success of the ARREST Agenda depends on how well we work together.”
Involving Liberia’s youth was highlighted as vital since they are seen as drivers of innovation and social progress. “To our young people,” he assured them that they are “the enablers of change” committed to equipping them with tools for leadership.
With Liberia preparing for the 2025 fiscal year and aiming towards Vision 2030 goals of prosperity and inclusivity, these plans are set to remain adaptable to meet evolving needs.
President Boakai concluded with a call for unity: “Let us dare to THINK LIBERIA, LOVE LIBERIA AND BUILD LIBERIA,” urging collective effort from all citizens.
