Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the working conditions of civil servants across the country.

During his keynote address at the induction ceremony of Officers-Elect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Workers Association (MOFAWA), Minister Ngafuan highlighted President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s appreciation for government workers’ dedication and service. He stated that their welfare remains a priority.

“This year, the government made salary top-ups for more than 28,000 civil servants in the health, education, police, and judiciary sectors,” said Minister Ngafuan. “This is a clear demonstration of President Boakai’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of civil servants.”

Ngafuan mentioned improvements in working conditions since the administration took office and expressed optimism about future progress. He also noted President Boakai’s impatience with delays and determination to advance national development efforts such as road connectivity, electricity access, education, and water supply.

Minister Ngafuan urged Liberians to unite for development, stating that while politicians win during election years, it is the people who benefit every other year.

Addressing MOFAWA’s newly inducted leadership, Ngafuan encouraged them to act as “double ambassadors,” representing their colleagues honorably and serving as a link between the workforce and management.

In conclusion, he commended staff from both ministries for their role in securing Liberia’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. He praised Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti as an “excellent addition to the cabinet of President Boakai.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Nyanti remarked that electing and inducting staff leadership demonstrated democracy. She acknowledged the ministry staff’s dedication to their duties.

The newly inducted MOFAWA leaders include Mr. Samuel Saah Borbor Sr., President; Mr. Oddyessus Gwoleh Brown, Vice President; Mrs. Elvera M.F. Tarr, Secretary General; among others.
