Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai convened a breakfast consultation on the future of the United Nations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the African Union Summit. The event, held at the Marriott Hotel, brought together several African heads of state and representatives for informal discussions.

With Liberia currently serving on the United Nations Security Council and having recently assumed leadership of the African Group in New York, President Boakai is focusing on building consensus around key issues affecting Africa. The closed-door meeting aimed to encourage open dialogue about Africa’s role within the UN and considerations regarding institutional reform as part of the upcoming Secretary-General selection process.

The gathering also highlighted Liberia’s recent diplomatic efforts. President Boakai met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at the Addis International Convention Center to discuss mutual interests between their countries. In addition, he hosted separate meetings with Abdullah Almusaibeeh, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and Mame Mandiaye Niang, Acting Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), at his suite in Addis Ababa.

The Executive Mansion of Liberia serves as both residence and workplace for the president and plays a central role in national governance. It provides information about presidential events and initiatives to promote transparency and unity among citizens through its official website. The Executive Mansion is located in Monrovia and functions as part of Liberia’s executive branch while holding historical significance as a symbol of national leadership.
