Governor seeks new member for St Helena Media Commission

His Excellency the Governor is seeking to appoint a new member to the St Helena Media Commission. This position is not available to members of the Legislative Council or the Public Service.

The St Helena Media Commission has several responsibilities, including issuing Codes of Practice to the media, monitoring compliance with these codes, and investigating any alleged breaches. The commission includes the Chief Magistrate as President and at least two other members. It plays a significant role in ensuring that the press adheres to necessary rules while maintaining freedom of expression.

Remuneration for this role is set at £35 per meeting, with mileage reimbursed at 77p per mile.
