GOIL PLC has handed over two renovated offices to the Department of Sociology at the University of Ghana. The refurbishment was carried out after a request from the Head of Department, Prof. Peace Mamle Tetteh, who noted that the previous office spaces were no longer suitable for academic and administrative activities.
The renovated spaces include the General Administrative Office and the Office for Graduate Assistants and National Service Personnel. These facilities are now functional and available for use by faculty, staff, and students.
At the handover ceremony, Prof. Peace Mamle Tetteh expressed her gratitude to GOIL for their prompt response to her request. She said, “I want to thank GOIL PLC for not only responding but also doing so promptly.” She also acknowledged Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, Group CEO and Managing Director of GOIL, for his support in realizing this project.
Prof. Mavis Dako-Gyeke, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, also commended GOIL’s timely intervention and expressed hope that such partnerships would continue and expand within the university community. She stated that these efforts align with the University of Ghana’s strategic goal to build enduring partnerships that create transformative experiences for students.
Dr. Marcus Deo Dake, Chief Operating Officer of GOIL, represented the company at the event. He emphasized that supporting education is a key part of GOIL’s Corporate Social Investment agenda and aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education. Dr. Dake said, “This initiative reflects GOIL’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development through education.”
He also thanked both the Department of Sociology and the University of Ghana for allowing GOIL to support their academic environment.
Other attendees included Mr. Emmanuel K. Agyiri, Head of Fuels Marketing at GOIL; Mr. Robert Nii Lartey, Group Chief Finance Officer; lecturers; and students from the department.
GOIL stated that this handover demonstrates its ongoing commitment to national development through investments in education and human capital.
