GOIL reaffirms support for Ghana Armed Forces in high-level meeting

GOIL PLC has reiterated its commitment to supporting Ghana’s national security after a meeting between the company’s leadership and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong. The visit, led by Group CEO and Managing Director Edward Abambire Bawa, took place at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between GOIL and the military. Mr. Bawa stated that he visited to congratulate the CDS and acknowledge the Ghana Armed Forces for their role in protecting Ghana’s sovereignty and security. He also reaffirmed GOIL’s position as the main fuel supplier to the armed forces, providing both aviation fuel for aircraft and bunkering services for naval vessels. Mr. Bawa emphasized “the need to deepen the strategic partnership between the two institutions.”

Lieutenant General William Agyapong thanked GOIL for its continued support, especially during times when there were outstanding debts from the armed forces. He said, “such moments reveal true partnerships” and described GOIL as a national energy company that prioritizes national interest over commercial gains.

The CDS commended Mr. Bawa for his leadership and expressed confidence in his vision for GOIL’s future impact on national development.

The GOIL delegation included Chief Operating Officer Dr. Marcus Deo Dake; Head of Corporate Affairs Robert Kyere; Head of Fuels Marketing Emmanuel Kwame Agyiri; Head of I.T., Roger Oteng Baah; Group Chief Finance Officer Robert Nii Lartey; Head of Operations Ing. Denis Nii-Komiete Amui, among other senior officials.

Representing the Ghana Armed Forces were Air Vice Marshal Joshua Mensah-Larkai, Commodore Francis Nyarko, Brigadier-General Thomas Mensah, Colonel Harry Keelson, and Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Awunigateh.

According to both parties, this engagement further strengthens their longstanding relationship based on mutual trust and shared responsibility for Ghana’s security.
