The Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL PLC, Edward Abambire Bawa, recently met with a delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Accra to discuss possible cooperation in infrastructure and energy projects.

JETRO’s delegation was led by Director-General Tsubasa Nakagawa, with Manager of Research and Business Development Frank Boadi Acheampong and Kweku Adu-Mensah also present. The meeting allowed both organizations to examine potential partnerships aligned with Ghana’s changing energy needs.

A main topic was collaboration on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facilities. Edward Abambire Bawa stated, “GOIL remains focused on infrastructure development that promotes sustainability, quality, and value for money, consistent with the company’s long-term growth strategy.” He also noted interest in a joint venture to increase LPG storage capacity to improve supply security and operational efficiency while offering more value to consumers.

The discussion included opportunities for developing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. With its extensive network of service stations across Ghana, GOIL aims to support the country’s shift toward cleaner transportation. Bawa said that using this broad presence would help GOIL lead in providing accessible and reliable EV charging points.

Other members of the GOIL team at the meeting were Chief Operating Officer Marcus Deo Dake, Chief Finance Officer Robert Nii Lartey, Head of Fuels Marketing Emmanuel K. Agyiri, Technical Advisor Mark Ofori-Amanfo, and Head of Corporate Affairs Robert Kyere.

This engagement is part of GOIL’s broader effort to establish international partnerships that enhance operations, strengthen infrastructure, and promote sustainable energy development in Ghana.
