Ghana has entered into a bilateral debt agreement with Germany, the sixth such arrangement as part of Ghana’s ongoing debt restructuring efforts.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson called the agreement an important step for the country. “This agreement is a significant milestone in Ghana’s economic recovery journey, noting that it will help strengthen the foundations of fiscal stability and anchor long-term economic progress,” Dr. Forson said.

He also thanked Germany for its support. “We appreciate the Government and people of Germany for their continued partnership and confidence in Ghana’s future,” he added, stating that the deal highlights strong cooperation between both countries.

Frederik Landshöft, German Ambassador to Ghana, congratulated Dr. Forson and praised the government’s progress in stabilizing the economy. He stated, “Germany reaffirms its commitment to deepening its bilateral and economic cooperation with Ghana.”

The agreement is part of a broader effort by Ghana to manage its national debt through negotiations with international partners.
