Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio attended the inauguration of Ghana’s newly elected President, John Dramani Mahama, at Black Star Square in Accra. The event saw participation from several heads of state and dignitaries, along with thousands of Ghanaians including key stakeholders and traditional leaders.

Guest of honor President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria called the inauguration a historic moment for Ghana. He urged President Mahama to focus on poverty reduction and youth unemployment, essential for sustainable development in the region. President Tinubu also commended the presence of African leaders at the ceremony, underscoring solidarity’s importance in advancing shared continental goals.

Ghana and Sierra Leone have long maintained strong bilateral relations through mutual support during crises and collaborative development efforts. President Bio’s attendance at the inauguration signifies Sierra Leone’s ongoing commitment to these ties and support for democratic governance across Africa.
