Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has emphasized the potential of Ghana’s oil palm industry to create jobs and improve rural livelihoods. During a visit to Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) in Adum Abanso, Western Region, Dr. Forson acknowledged the efforts of management, smallholder farmers, and workers for their role in advancing Ghana’s agricultural and industrial sectors.

Dr. Forson highlighted BOPP as an example of how investment in economic crops like oil palm can drive employment and inclusive growth. “Benso Oil Palm Plantation is a perfect example of how strategic investment in oil palm can create thousands of jobs and transform lives,” he said. “The dedication and professionalism I witnessed here give me great confidence that renewed investment in this sector is worth every effort.”

He announced that the government is close to completing a comprehensive Oil Palm Plantation Policy. The policy aims to increase production, strengthen value chains, and generate new jobs across the country.

Dr. Forson also commended BOPP’s business model for including smallholder farmers in its operations, stating that it matches the government’s goal of making agriculture central to Ghana’s future development and job creation.
