Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has called on Chief Directors and audit heads within Ghana’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to take steps to significantly reduce audit infractions by next year.
During a recent meeting focused on developing a plan to implement the recommendations from the 2024 Audit Report, Dr. Forson voiced concern about ongoing financial waste and irregularities affecting public resources. He emphasized that these issues negatively impact national governance and could threaten the stability and confidence recently restored in Ghana.
“We cannot continue to lose scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable. Ghana deserves better,” Dr. Forson said.
He highlighted that specialized courts have been established to prosecute violations of financial laws, signaling a stronger government stance on accountability.
“This is a new chapter. Accountability will no longer be optional,” Dr. Forson stated, noting that discipline in managing public finances is essential and “a duty we owe to every Ghanaian.”
