The Federal Government has urged the BisonFly Project team to deliver on its objectives and ensure timely execution. The directive was given by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, during a meeting with stakeholders in Abuja. The Minister was represented by Mr. Raymond Omenka Omachi, Permanent Secretary Special Duties.

Mr. Omachi emphasized that the project aims to reduce the overhead cost of official air travel within the Federal Civil Service, estimating annual savings between N18-24 billion through discounted air fares. This initiative is part of broader efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda and ongoing fiscal policy and tax reforms focused on optimizing government spending.

The BisonFly Project is described as a strategic effort by the Federal Ministry of Finance to cut air travel costs for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) using a centralized digital system. By adopting integrated booking tools and platforms, officials expect greater transparency and efficiency in arranging official travel.

According to the Minister, “Project BisonFly directly supports our commitment to prudent financial management. By coordinating travel and securing discounted rates, we are using the government’s collective bargaining power to cut expenditure and improve service delivery, just as global institutions like the World Bank have done successfully.”

Officials believe successful implementation will promote transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility across public services while also contributing to economic growth, job creation, and productivity improvements in Nigeria’s public sector.

The meeting at the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters included Mrs Adebusola Ajiboye (Head Efficiency Unit), Gbemiga Delano (GMD, Manifold Enterprise Solutions), Mr .Raymond Omenka Omachi (Permanent Secretary Special Duties), lniabasi Akpan (CEO , Manifold Enterprise Solutions), and Mr. Ayodeji Odusote (Special Adviser to the Minister on ICT).
