ECOWAS welcomes new ambassadors at headquarters in Abuja

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, welcomed twelve new ambassadors on September 30, 2024, at the ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. The ambassadors presented their credentials to Dr. Touray as they were accredited to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The newly appointed ambassadors are Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama from Ghana, Madame Philda Nani Kareng from Botswana, Lincoln G. Downer from Jamaica, Jose Bamoquina Zau from Angola, Leilani Bin-Juda from Australia, Edouard Nduwimana from Burundi, Pieter Leenknegt from Belgium, Paulo Martins dos Santos from Portugal, George Muhali Imbuwa from Zambia, Richard Mills Jr. from the United States of America, Isaac Keen Parashina from Kenya and Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete from Brazil.

In his discussions with the ambassadors, Dr. Touray emphasized his dedication to maintaining and enhancing relations between ECOWAS and their respective countries. He highlighted ongoing efforts to address security issues as well as economic and environmental challenges faced by member states.

The ambassadors expressed their appreciation for ECOWAS’s leadership in promoting peace and stability within the region. They committed to strengthening diplomatic ties between their countries and the West African organization.
