ECOWAS promotes trade at Lagos International Trade Fair

The Lagos International Trade Fair 2024, organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), took place from November 1 to November 10 at Tafawa Balewa Square. Themed “CONNECTING BUSINESSES, CREATING VALUE,” the event aimed to enhance business interactions and promote trade.

The fair was inaugurated on November 1 by Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, and concluded on November 10 with remarks from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. A highlight of the event was the Africa Special Day on November 7, which showcased cultural heritage from countries like Cameroon, Ghana, and Rwanda. Remarks were made by representatives from LCCI, ECOWAS Commission, and Afreximbank.

Mr. Kolawole Sofola spoke on behalf of Mrs. Massandjé Toure-Litse during the African Special Day opening session. He outlined regional initiatives such as the ECOWAS Implementation Strategy for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and other schemes designed to boost intra-regional trade.

The fair featured various exhibitors presenting products from across Africa and beyond. The ECOWAS exhibition stand provided information about its programs and opportunities within the region.

Mr. Gabriel Idahosa of LCCI acknowledged ECOWAS’s support for the fair and expressed hopes for future collaborations. The 2024 edition highlighted LCCI’s dedication to advancing business roles in wealth creation through cross-border trade opportunities.
