ECOWAS prepares for regional resilience strategy meeting with stakeholder engagement

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is preparing for a significant meeting on the Regional Resilience Strategy for West Africa, scheduled from November 25th to 29th, 2024, in Abidjan. To ensure collaboration and gain high-level support, ECOWAS conducted strategic visits with key stakeholders.

Dr. Sintiki Tarfa-Ugbe, ECOWAS Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, represented Prof. Fatou Sow Sarr, Commissioner of Human Development and Social Affairs, during these engagements. The delegation visited Mr. Jacques Konan Assahore, Ivorian Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development, and Ecological Transition, as well as H.E. Ambassador Fanta Cissé, ECOWAS Resident Representative to Côte d’Ivoire.

Dr. Tarfa-Ugbe highlighted the importance of the upcoming meeting aimed at bringing together regional experts and ministers to develop a sustainable resilience strategy for West Africa. Official invitations were extended to participate in the event.

Both Mr. Assahore and Ambassador Cissé expressed their dedication to addressing challenges related to sustainable development and resilience building in the region. They promised full support for the success of the meeting, acknowledging its vital role in enhancing West Africa’s resilience.

The Hybrid Meeting of Experts and Ministers on the Regional Resilience Strategy will provide an essential platform for dialogue and action while reinforcing ECOWAS’s commitment to cooperation across member states.
