ECOWAS offers condolences after deadly helicopter crash kills Ghanaian ministers

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has expressed its condolences to Ghana following a helicopter crash that resulted in the deaths of several senior government officials. Among those who died were Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology.

“On behalf of the staff and leadership of all ECOWAS institutions, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Ghana. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this moment of national grief,” said H.E Dr Omar Alieu TOURAY, President of the ECOWAS Commission.

The incident has led to mourning across Ghana as the nation comes to terms with the loss of key members of its government. The message from ECOWAS reflects solidarity among West African states during times of tragedy.
