The Directorate of Financial Reporting and Grants of the ECOWAS Commission organized a Power BI training session in Niger State, Nigeria, from November 4th to 8th, 2024. This initiative aimed to enhance the skills of finance staff across ECOWAS institutions and agencies in data visualization and analysis.

The training was facilitated by Deloitte & Touche. It focused on equipping finance teams with advanced skills in financial reporting, data analysis, and interactive visualization. The goal is to streamline the preparation and presentation of financial statements.

This first batch of training is part of preparations for the 2024 closing of accounts and the subsequent year-end audit.

During the opening session, the Acting Head of Division for Financial Reporting emphasized the importance of this capacity-building effort. “By focusing on capacity building, the Directorate of Financial Reporting and Grants can ensure a smoother, more efficient and compliant year-end closing,” she said. She also highlighted that such efforts are crucial for ensuring accurate financials at year-end.
