The ECOWAS Directorate of Education, Science, and Culture, under the Department of Human Development and Social Affairs, recently concluded the passing out ceremony for young professionals from the 2024 batch of the Immersion Program in ECOWAS Institutions. The event began with virtual presentations by each young professional from November 25 to 28, detailing their assignments, activities, achievements, and recommendations. The grand finale was held at REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria on November 29. It was chaired by Her Excellency the Vice President of the commission alongside other dignitaries. During this event, testimonials were presented to the young professionals.

The ECOWAS Immersion Program is part of the ECOWAS Nnamdi Azikiwe Academic Mobility Scheme (ENAAMS). Since its inception in 2017, it has benefited over 400 individuals. The program aims to equip young graduates with professional skills and foster regional integration while enhancing their understanding of working in dynamic multicultural settings. This initiative supports ECOWAS’ goal of developing a skilled workforce to tackle socio-economic challenges by promoting human capital development.

The program has significantly supported various ECOWAS departments and institutions by reducing workloads and aiding staff in implementing activities. Key sessions during the ceremony included presentations on the program’s impact, cultural performances, drama presentations, and issuing testimonies to participants. This ceremony marks an important step towards achieving ECOWAS’ vision of building a competitive and resilient workforce in West Africa.
