The Office of the Auditor General of the ECOWAS Commission recently completed an audit mission at the ECOWAS Gender Development Centre (EGDC) in Dakar, Senegal. The review took place from August 4 to 15, 2025, and focused on assessing how EGDC manages its operations in areas such as procurement, human resources, travel, missions, and advances.
The audit aimed to analyze current operational procedures and understand EGDC’s needs for effective management. During the opening meeting on August 4, auditors outlined the context, objectives, and methodology for their work. Both the Director of EGDC and the Director of Administration and Finance of the GIABA/EGDC Pooling expressed support for the audit process and noted progress made by EGDC in relevant areas.
At a closing meeting on August 18, preliminary conclusions were shared with participants. The Auditor General commended EGDC staff for their cooperation during the audit and encouraged continued improvements to operational practices.
The audit was conducted using a hybrid approach that included both in-person sessions and remote meetings via Zoom and Teams. Staff from EGDC, GIABA, and the Auditor General’s Office participated actively throughout the process.
