Former General Secretary of the Ghana Trades Union Congress, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, has been appointed to chair the new seven-member Board of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS). The board’s composition includes notable figures such as Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, Mrs. Nelly Mireku from the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Zakaria Mumuni, Prof. Mariama Awumbila, Dr. Philomena Nyarko, and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor.
During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko emphasized the importance of establishing an accurate and reliable data system to aid in national development.
Dr. Baah expressed his appreciation for his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
With years of experience in organizational leadership and policy advocacy during his tenure at TUC, Dr. Baah is expected to bring significant expertise to his new position.
