The Government of The Gambia has received a significant donation from the People’s Republic of China. The aid, which includes rice valued at 10 million RMB Yuan (approximately 98.65 million Dalasis), is part of China’s Development Assistance Programme, known as China Aid. This support is part of China’s South-South Cooperation Assistance aimed at helping developing countries.

The annual food donation will be distributed to needy communities within The Gambia. Additionally, medical equipment worth one million USD (about 72 million Dalasis) was donated to the Ministry of Health. This includes four medicalized ambulances and various other materials.

He announced plans to send more health professionals to The Gambia to bolster its health system and encouraged young Gambians to participate in exchange programs with China to foster mutual understanding and friendship.

The handing-over ceremony was attended by several officials including Ministers for Health and Agriculture Dr. Amadou Lamin Samateh and Dr. Demba Sabally respectively, Minister Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Mod. K. Ceesay, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister for Information, Media and Broadcasting, along with other senior officials.
