The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has inaugurated the Board of the Ghana Deposit Protection Corporation (GDPC). The inauguration took place with a focus on safeguarding the deposits of ordinary Ghanaians and strengthening public confidence in the financial system.

The newly formed Board is chaired by Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiamah, Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana. Other members include Galahad Alex Andoh, Chief Executive Officer of the GDPC; Mr. Prosper Ayinbilla Awuni, representing the Ministry of Finance; Benjamin Amenumey; and Paul Kwasi Agyemang.

Dr. Asiamah expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for their trust in appointing him and his team. He assured that the Board is committed to providing effective leadership and strengthening the deposit protection scheme.

He further emphasized that transparency, good governance, and innovative tools will be key aspects of improving the Corporation’s operations. Additionally, he mentioned plans to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to enhance how the Corporation serves its stakeholders.
