Boakai emphasizes service over title while commissioning new Liberian officials

The President of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, emphasized his commitment to building a better country during the commissioning ceremony for newly appointed government officials. On March 22, 2024, he stated that his presidency is not about prestige or titles but about serving the Liberian people.

During the event at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia, President Boakai urged donors and partners to respect Liberians and recognize that handouts are not their destiny. He expressed confidence in his government’s progress since taking office two months ago and its alignment with plans to move the country forward.

President Boakai highlighted the importance of selecting officials who are committed to Liberia’s development. He assured that those who do not align with his agenda will be replaced. The President reminded officials of their responsibilities to improve livelihoods by providing quality education, access to clean water, good roads, a thriving agriculture sector, and a robust economy.

He also noted meetings with stakeholders and partners aimed at securing affordable electricity for Liberia. President Boakai reiterated his dedication to ensuring that appropriate actions are taken for the nation’s benefit.

The commissioned officials include key ministers such as Francis Sakila Nyumalin Sr., Jerolinmek Piah, Wilmot Paye, Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, Sekou M. Kromah, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Mrs. Mamaka Bility, Mr. Samuel Stevquoah among others holding significant roles within various governmental agencies.

Additionally appointed were leaders like Brigadier General Davidson F. Forleh as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia and other directors overseeing critical sectors such as immigration services and disaster management.

Deputy Minister positions were filled by Atty. Cornelia Kruah Togba for Administration at the Ministry of State and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bakri Nyei for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
