President Adama Barrow has presented a cheque worth US$ 1.4 million to beneficiaries of the Tourism Diversification and Resilience Gambia Project. The recipients include entrepreneurs such as Kaddy Sidibeh from Khaddy Experience, Ida Cham of Yabouy Home Cooking, Neneh Saidy Bah from Glow Beauty Palace, Mariama Jabang representing Kaba Girl, and Kawsu Samateh of Kawsu Tours.

The initiative is a collaboration between The Gambia Government and the World Bank aimed at post-COVID-19 recovery. The project seeks to boost entrepreneurship by increasing access to capital for creating new opportunities and supporting existing businesses, thereby fostering economic growth in the country.

Kaddy Sidibeh, speaking on behalf of the first group of beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to both The Gambia Government and the World Bank for their support in empowering micro and small enterprises. Plans are in place to train a second group of entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

The administration under President Barrow remains committed to facilitating growth for local businesses.
