ECOWAS committee discusses exit strategy from Guinea-Bissau

The Committee of the Chief of Defense Staff (CCDS) of the ECOWAS region met in Abuja, Nigeria, Wednesday to discuss its intervention plan in Guinea-Bissau.

The ECOWAS mission in Guinea-Bissau began in 2012 with more than 600 military and a police contingent to stabilize the country during a time of political turmoil.

With the ECOWAS mission in Guinea-Bissau coming to an end, the committee met to review a comprehensive exit strategy that will ensure the country continues to experience peace and stability.

General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin,  a chief of defense staff representative of Nigeria, spoke during the ceremony and commended the ECOWAS troops for effective performance and great sacrifice.
