45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria, China celebrated

The 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China was marked on Feb. 10.

In a letter to Nigeria's Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pointed out that much effort has gone into maintaining good relations between the two nations, including many missions back and forth that brought high-level leaders to the countries as well as the sharing of ideas about how to keep Nigeria moving forward.

Relations between Nigeria and China were further cemented last year with the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a letter to Yi, Onyeama wrote that "over the years, the long standing bilateral relations have witnessed tremendous achievements in various sectors. The Nigerian side has unwavering commitment to re-invigorate, deepen and expand the existing relations."
