UN leader lauds Nigeria in economic & human rights advances

Ban Ki-moon, secretary general of the United Nations, met with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari Jan. 18.

After Ki-moon applauded Buhari's efforts at reigning in corruption and nurturing Nigeria's economy, the pair discussed the many challenges associated with Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram. 

Finally, Ki-moon urged Nigeria's government officials to throw their support behind his global Plan of Action against terrorism, with an emphasis on ensuring that military operations act in accordance with international humanitarian, human rights and refugee laws .
