Sika to expand concrete and mortar production facilities across Africa

Chemical company Sika will open concrete admixture and mortar production facilities in Nigeria and the Ivory Coast, as well as establish new subsidiaries in Ethiopia and Tanzania as a part of its ongoing expansion throughout Africa.

"Our new production facilities in Nigeria and Ivory Coast and our new subsidiaries in Tanzania and Ethiopia represent another milestone in the consequent execution of Sika's Strategy 2018," Sika's EMEA Regional Manager Paul Schuler said. "With the latest investments, we will further accelerate our growth in Sub-Saharan Africa and increase Sika's market share. It demonstrates our strong belief in the potential and the prosperous future of the continent."

With the new investments, Sika expects cement consumption to grow by 9 percent in Nigeria and the Ivory Coast this year.

In 2014, Sika opened subsidiaries in Lagos and Abidjan to invest in local production facilities for high-quality concrete admixtures and mortars. The products are currently being used to fill the high demand of refurbishment, construction and maintenance markets in both countries. In addition, Sika hopes, with the opening of the aforementioned subsidiaries, to enjoy the same success in Ethiopia and Tanzania.
