Togo, U.S. sign historic Open Skies agreement

U.S. Ambassador Robert Whitehead and Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Robert Dussey last week signed a bilateral Open Skies agreement, allowing any Togolese airline and any U.S. airline to fly to and from any points in Togo and the United States.

“This historic agreement represents an important step forward in the United States’ government’s goal to improve the investment climate and support economic development in Togo," Whitehead said. "It will provide for more open air routes, liberal charter rules, and expanded rights vis-à-vis air cargo between our two countries."

The negotiations between the United States and Togo for the air transport agreement started in 2012. This agreement is the first of its kind between the United States and Togo and is an important step in achieving the goals of the U.S. government to improve the investment climate and support economic development in Togo.
