Musa named executive director for Guaranty Trust Bank

Guaranty Trust Bank of Nigeria announced last month that Haruna Musa has been selected to serve as the board's executive director.

“As a bank, we maintain high corporate governance standards and ensure that board appointments are in line with global best practices and industry standards," Guaranty Trust Bank CEO Segun Agbaje said. “Haruna has been an integral part of the bank’s success and has seen the bank evolve and develop through the years. I am confident that his appointment will further strengthen and position the bank for improved performance."

Musa's banking career began with the United Bank for Africa, and he has worked with FSB International Bank. Musa has been with GT Bank since 2001. Over the course of his career, Musa has had experience with banking operations, compliance and risk management, corporate banking, commercial banking and other areas within the financial sector.

Musa earned a bachelor's degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and a master's in business administration from Beyero University in Kano. Musa has also earned a degree in finance and management from the Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.

GT Bank opened in 1990 and has approximately 230 branches in Nigeria. It operates subsidiaries in Cote D'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Uganda and the U.K.
