President Bola Tinubu has announced his approval of a Regional Coordinating Care Center with the Africa-CDC to be located in Nigeria.

The center will be located in Abuja, the capital, and will further the country’s commitment to “regional and global health security, while promoting local economic opportunities in the health care delivery value chain.” Tinubu also stressed that this will improve the region’s ability to respond to outbreaks, protecting the country and the entire continent of Africa.

Tinubu promoted the center as a economic boost in the area, bringing in both jobs and people to the area. It will also provide another outlet for medical development, and will relieve any strain on indigenous medical professionals working on both existing and emerging diseases.
