The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) announced its New Deal on Energy for Africa plan Wednesday to provide universal access to energy in Africa by the year 2025.

The New Deal on Energy for Africa is part of the AfDB’s Transformative Partnership on Energy. The AfDB will work with the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to bring the plan to fruition.

In an effort to achieve the goal of providing Africa with accessible energy through the Transformative Partnership, the AfDB is collaborating with governments and the energy and private sectors to form initiatives to develop the plan.

This week, global political and business leaders met with Akinwumi Adesina, AfDB president, to discuss the New Deal and Transformative Partnership to bring energy to Africa.

The leaders discussed unanimously agreed that African countries need to be united in order to make the New Deal on Energy for Africa a reality.
