Test results positive from offshore well in Senegal

According to officials from Cairn Energy, one of Europe's leading independent oil and gas exploration and development companies, positive results were obtained from recent testing of an SNE-2 appraisal well in offshore Senegal.

“We are delighted with the results of the SNE-2 well and, in particular, the well tests, which are significant in demonstrating the ability of the reservoirs to flow at commercially viable rates," Cairn Energy Chief Executive Simon Thomson said. "The results help to confirm the overall scale and extent of the resource base in Senegal and further appraisal activity is expected to lead to future revision of the estimates. We now eagerly look forward to the results of the SNE-3 well."

Drilling, coring, logging and drill-stem testing were conducted on the SNE-2 well, which is located about 100 kilometers offshore in Carin's Senegalese Sangomar Offshore block. The well is underwater about 1,200 kilometers and is one of three wells in the block.
